ARE YOU WORKING ON YOUR DREAMS TODAY? ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING.

The most difficult age for any man is probably between 24-29yrs, the pressure to become something, to become someone is so immerse. When you look around you, everyone seems to be doing something for themselves; people seem to be living a life you only dream of. You have applied for jobs and the results have been more disappointing than Besigye`s shot at presidency.

Sadly this is the age when most guys lose it, the age when if not careful, one is consumed by alcohol or drugs because the disappointments become too much and you find alternative ways to face reality. Worse is when few people you studied with have been lucky enough to land jobs, soon your circle of friends grows thinner. Mostly they even cut you out but you are real with yourself and out yourself out. I mean what you will do when you are in a WhatsApp group of friends discussing last week`s trip to Zanzibar and planning another road trip to Kigali while you are not sure of what your next meal would be? Most times you`d follow the conversation silently, all alone like a cross on a grave. Soon you realize this is no longer your kind of crowd because the more you stick around the more the pressure to be something takes a toll. You know when stories about house parties come up and you act deaf because you don’t know where an extra 5 guys would fit in your flat.

Have you ever satin a group of people discussing the new iPhone on the market or how British Airways offers shitty services…and you can feel your heart whisper to you “bro this is chest pain hour, can we just go and find a group that talks about boda boda”, but you sit there as these people get lost in their lifestyle conversations, you are like a secretary taking minutes in a meeting. Once in a while, one of the friends will turn and ask if you need another drink and you wonder if you should just say No and head home but head home to what?? So you grudgingly drop in the “I will have just one last one” lie.
After a few years of job hunting, you are now ready to take anything even if is worthless as long as it pays, so you end up as an office messenger in one blue chip company in town. To imagine that 3 years of studying and getting a degree is now reduced to picking and dropping off letters and if you are not doing that, you are being sent for cheap lunch by the employees when they are broke and cant order with hello food. This is when conversations about where people studied surface, you go silent, it’s no longer of any use to say you also reached University.
Once in a while you will bump into your now well off classmates they would offer you lunch but not even eating the meals at Msasani City Mall will make you feel better about yourself. In your mind you wish instead they would give you the 30k and you sort your meals for the next couple of days. As usual, you will have photos taken and uploaded on Instagram, but always it’s your face that that would look odd one out. Not even the best filters can hide a face which has borne the city dust and survives on boiled beans.

The worst mistake you can do during this period is to try dating. There’s nothing that a person going through such times can offer in terms of today’s idea of love. How are you going to do evening romantic walks when you are tired from walking, delivering letters in offices around town? What will you tell your lady when she says she wants to go for NOIR or Nyama Choma Festival? That your financial religion doesn’t allow it?
This is the age when you sit back and watch the ladies you would want to date, dating or getting married to guys 10years older than you and you can’t blame them. It’s only that your life seems to be progressing slower than their goals in life. Some of the ladies you meet during this period, if you are lucky will be patient with you till you hit 28 and if by then your life is still in disarray then my friend be prepared for a walk out.

This is the age when you learn a lot about life, if you can hack through this stage, your only hardship would be losing your parents. This stage teaches you a lot about perseverance, about appreciating the small wins you have each day. It teaches you something about friendship, love, career growth and personal responsibility. This is always your rise or fall moment depending on the choices you make.
How you live your life in the 30s is determined by how you would have handled your life in this phase. I’m not going to be long in my 20s but I won’t wait until this phase reaches me before I start doing something about it.
That’s why I always,
Are you working on your dreams today?

AFTER WORK, IS WHAT DETERMINES YOUR FUTURE! SPEND ONE HOUR PER DAY DOING THESE 5 THINGS AND YOUR LIFE WILL CHANGE FOREVER!

After work, is what determines your future! Spend one hour per day doing these 5 things and your life will change forever!

You finish work at 6 pm, go to bed at 12 midnight.

Within these six hours, how do you spend them?

Watching TV?

In fact, the activities you do between 6 am and 12 midnight,

the importance of it is beyond your imagination.

Too many people believe that,

your career is determined by the 8 hours of hard work and effort you put at work,

and your future and career progression depend on the boss and the company.

But the reality is that for most people, this thing, you are on your own…..

Read on…

“Cultivation”, it’s forever dependent by yourself.

If you found yourself not progressing in life,

you cannot blame and put the responsibility on your company for not grooming you.

1. What you do every night is important

My major in college was marketing, but I expect to become a designer.

So I practiced day and night,

picking up some freelance work to improve my design skills.

It took me a long time.

When I became a boss, I no longer need to involve myself in design work,

So I went back to the Marketing field.

Every day, when my children are sleeping,

I began learning to gain more knowledge, this again took me a long time,

But I begin to realise my returns.

If I rely on my working hours to gain skills,

then I will never have become a creative director and a product manager,

or like today, teaching MBA students on Marketing.

What I rely on, is myself giving myself “lessons”.

And the most successful people I knew, walked the same path as I am.

I have a friend who is a History graduate,

but he is interested in technical sales,

In the day, he does telemarketing, at night he learns how to code,

Finally, he became the vice president of sales in a startup company.

Now, he’s a CTO.

I have another friend, he received a degree in political science.

But he’s very interested in entrepreneurship.

he learnt a lot of knowledge on how to start up a company,

eventually, he founded a company and sold it,

Now he has reaped the rewards.

For them, what they do between 6 pm till 12 midnight,

is what determined their future.

Clearly, we need to balance life and work.

If you have a wife and children, every night, you have to stay with them.

Even if you are single, you also need a reasonable allocation of time to go to the gym, to meet with friends, or be alone to meditate and so on.

Of course, watching movies, playing games is good.

But there are things you do not need to do.

For example, watching the new season of a Netflix drama,

14 hours per week watching television (This is the average amount of time watching television).

The time spent playing the game Candy Crush.

Or spending time stalking your high school alumni on Facebook,

it does not seem to be good.

So what should you do?

2. Read more, anything will do!

My college mentor was born in Alabama,

A poor African family.

He was admitted to West Point Military Academy, and he became the first person in the family to go college.

Before going to Havard for his MBA, he’s a trained officer.

When I met him, he has already developed his career in the city of Colorado Springs.

I asked him, what’s his biggest success?

He replied, because he kept the habit of reading,

and he never stopped.

He believed that if you want to get what you want in life,

knowledge is the key.

He often asked his interviewees what book are they reading now,

the excellent ones can give an answer immediately.

Reading can give you a good headstart,

this is often what your peers cannot obtain.

Compared to others,

you are more likely to know other industries strategies and tactics,

and that may be helpful to your company.

You can transfer your knowledge within the organization,

create new possibilities for your company.

Moreover, your conversation topics will become more interesting.

Anthony Robbins said:

“If you spend one hour a day to learn about a topic,

a year later, in this regard,

the knowledge you gain will be more than 99.999% of the world’s people.”

Even if you have 30 minutes every night,

each week you can easily read a book.

You may not be an expert, but I promise,

you’ll know more than what your peers know.

3. Do some projects

You can apply the knowledge learnt to real work scenario,

this is only an ideal state.

If your company did not give you this opportunity,

create opportunities for yourself.

You can do some volunteer projects. They can bring you fame.

Working with a team,

you’ll understand how things work.

In the practical application of the industry,

and how it ultimately affect actual customers.

You’ll learn how to perform the task and meet deadlines,

and get feedbacks on what you are doing,

and benefit from it.

When you are not strong enough, these experience may not have any value to you.

But you are still a novice.

these experiences are far more valuable than the miserable pay you are getting.

If you can really convince others of your pockets of fruits of labour,

Then go try it. But do not let these private jobs affect your work.

4. Actively build your connections

In your career path,

a strong network of connections will make everything accelerate.

If you have not set up your own personal connections,

you’ll need to divide a portion of your time to do this.

A strong network of relationships, can enable you:

contact smart friends, and learn their opinionsget information and knowledge that are difficult to obtainhelp the company look for more potential partnersor income generating opportunities

Go get to know your work colleague or boss…..

If you are an entrepreneur,

your network connections will be your early customers,

your staffs are a source of capital

rather than go home, or going to a bar,

you should find some inner circles.

There are many small groups which are highly relevant to your career.

You should try to integrate into these circles.

Every week, you can drink coffee together with new friends,

go drinking or have breakfast.

You can also look into everyone’s career developments on LinkedIn.

And establish a network with mentors in those professional industries.

They may be your next job employer, who knows?

Your connections will be your most powerful asset in the workplace.

Since you have time to watch “The Voice of China”,

you have time to build a social network.

5. The CHANGE of your LIFE starts TONIGHT

6 pm to 12 am, you go home, though physically and mentally tired,

you are free to do anything and do not have to take orders from others.

During this time,

you can switch off like switching off your computer at your workplace, switch off your brain.

But you can also do something,

make you smarter, stronger, have a wider network of people.

From the start tonight, take an hour a day to do these things,

I guarantee that after a year,

your career, and life will change.

WHY BOOKS SHOULD BE INTEGRATED INTO YOUR DAILY GRIND

BOOKS ARE IMPORTANT IN EXPANDING YOUR MIND AND YOUR BUSINESS. HERE’S WHY AND HOW.

Book, books, books. I read so many articles on Inc.com and Forbes about the books Bill Gates thinks you should read or the books Mark Zuckerberg reads and to be honest it’s overwhelming.

How is the average entrepreneur who’s trying to make it supposed to keep up with the books everyone recommends or ‘thinks you should read?’ They’re millionaires and billionaires, so they can hire people to do the work and they have time to read books, right?

Right now I have a list that’s about 65 books long that I need to read. One of the things on my resolution list was to read a book a month. That happened for the first couple of months, but as soon as June hit, I got busy. When I got home from work I didn’t want to read about business because I just got home from my business.

As I continued to get emails from the publications mentioned above, they flooded me with different ideas of WHY you should read. I never thought of the ‘why.’ I just thought, “Well, I don’t have time and frankly I’d rather do mindless activities like watch TV.”

But then I read this article. Then came this one and then this one. Ugh. Once again, I was defeated. The point of reading wasn’t to waste time. People were learning and growing and more importantly learning skills that they used to make their businesses grow.

I recently ran across an article that made me take the, “Okay, I get it, I need to jump on the reading train,” route. To paraphrase it said that the point of people reading was not to waste time or to have a ‘lovely afternoon tea,’ it was to learn; it was to grow their business.

I never thought of reading like this. I thought of it as something people do to pass the time, not necessarily to learn and I didn’t think of it directly being able to help my business. This may be a no-brainer to some people, but maybe there are entrepreneurs out there like me. Here’s what I did about it.

Any free time I have at night, instead of watching TV, I’ve decided that I will dedicate it to reading. For me, prospecting new clients, networking and making sure my pipeline is full and business is running is my number one priority. However, I’ve decided to dedicate time before bed to reading. I read a chapter or 30-minutes, whichever is longer. This also has helped me sleep better. Before, I tended to be on my phone scrolling through Instagram or Facebook and have heard that’s not good for you before bed.

The books that I’ve read that I would recommend to any entrepreneur are:

The Crossroad Between Should and Must: This is about the choice between doing something and saying you’ll do it. It’s a fun, very light read that has a lot of animation in it.

Pour Your Heart Into It: This is the story of Starbucks. This is a pretty hefty book. I thoroughly enjoyed it, though. It was amazing to read about all the obstacles Howard Schultz overcame and how he grew Starbucks to what we know now.

The Power of Nice: This is a light read and a good starter book. This about an ad agency in New York’s promise to be nice to everyone, no matter what. They share their stories about how it came to their benefit in the long run and even ten years down the road.

From Grit to Great: This book is by the same authors as above and talks about how people started from nothing to becoming something. It has a lot of great stories within it.

How To Become A Rainmaker: This is a quick and easy read, and it’s perfect for any sales person or entrepreneur who is the sales person along with everything else

Lean In: This book is a MUST READ for any female in business. Whether you’re working for yourself or thinking about it, or working for someone else, this is essential. The book talks about how women need to ‘lean in’ to more responsibilities and how to overcome obstacles.
All of these books have very different personalities but are great reads to expand your mind and make you think differently. I hope you gain some insigh nto reading as I have in this article. Tweet me at @MarketingGal_ to tell me which books you enjoy or if you’ve read any of the ones above.

Anaitwa Pablo Escobar a.k.a El Doctor, El Patrón,Don Pablo,El Señor, El Magico.

Akakubali but Gereza akajenga yeye.

_____________________________________________

UFAHAMU UGONJWA WA "NARCISSISTIC PERSONALITY DISORDER".

By Dr.Christopher Cyrilo (MD)

SWALI;

Dr.Chriss
